This advertisement animation aims to normalise conversations around menstruation and highlight the issue of period poverty. It seeks to eliminate stigma and shift perceptions, especially among teens and young adults, by presenting relatable, real-life scenarios. Menstruation is still a topic many people aren’t properly educated on, and it’s essential that teenagers are informed as they transition into adulthood. In the UK alone, 36% of people are affected by period poverty, making it a pressing concern (Period, no date).
The narrative is presented as an advertisement created in collaboration with Period. and TOTM, two organisations committed to breaking the stigma around periods through education, ethical products, and advocacy campaigns. The animation is aimed at females aged 16–20, using familiar, everyday experiences to connect with viewers and spark open, honest conversations about menstruation.
